Born and raised in Portland, I grew up training alongside my brother, Coach Zavier, and was introduced to combat sports at an early age. Beginning at just six years old, I had the opportunity to learn from a variety of experienced coaches across multiple martial arts disciplines, competing in numerous grappling tournaments throughout my youth. At the same time, I trained extensively in boxing under the guidance of my father, Coach Rick, who helped lay the foundation for my passion for the sport.
Over the years, my appreciation for boxing has only continued to grow. I was drawn to the unique blend of art, science, strategy, and athleticism that boxing demands, which naturally led me into coaching. I quickly discovered that I have just as much passion for teaching as I do for training, and I take pride in helping athletes build confidence, sharpen their skills, and reach their full potential.
In addition to coaching, I continue to compete in USA Boxing-sanctioned amateur competitions. Staying active in the sport allows me to continually refine my skills, test the techniques I teach, and bring real-world experience into every training session. Whether you're stepping into the gym for the first time or preparing for competition, my goal is to help you become a more confident, skilled, and disciplined athlete.Erick Acosta is an accomplished boxing coach with nearly a decade of experience developing both amateur and professional athletes.
