Corporate Team Building Program

Why boxing?   According to leading neuroscientists, EXERCISE can have a significant impact on the brain – just a single workout can bring an immediate improvement in cognitive function for up to 2 hours following the workout. And regular exercise can do even more! Our program can help bring out the best in your team by utilizing a combined  program of physical and mental activities. Boxing in particular is a unique workout that requires a mix of physical strength, cardio fitness, and mental alertness. And its a workout that’s accessible to a wide variety of ages and abilities – with slight modifications on select exercises, we have accommodations for participants of all fitness levels. Our coaches excel at finding the best in each individual as your group works towards a common goal.

We offer a full day program for a small company or mid-size work team.  Portland City Boxing will deliver a corporate training session which creates an optimal environment for both team building and individual growth. By combining boxing training with proven team training and facilitation techniques, we have created a program that is effective, fun and very *different from other team building options.

Portland City Boxing is ideally situated in NW,  just at the bottom of the Steel Bridge. Its an easy walk or MAX ride from many downtown offices. With over 7,500 sq ft of gym area, we have room for groups of 3 to 30!

On the day of your program, you will be put through your paces by our certified USA Boxing coaches and amateur fighters, and led in targeted team building exercises by experienced facilitators.  A fun and exciting program that will get your team  working together and working up a sweat!

Our full day program runs from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm and includes:

  • Continental breakfast, meet your PCB Boxing Coaches, and complete the information sheets/questionnaire forms
  • Light warm up/stretching and  group introduction activities.
  • Basic Boxing Techniques: Jab, Cross, Hook and Uppercut, plus basic footwork
  • Break
  • Short, scenic jog and stairs work along the river (weather permitting – CUE the ROCKY MUSIC!), or indoor cardio/strength session.
  •  Technical boxing session 1:  learning techniques and beginning boxing pairs work.
  • Lunch break
  • Facilitated team building activities
  • Technical boxing session 2: refining techniques and pseudo-sparring
  • Cool-down/stretch
  • Wrap up Q and A

Over 20 Heavy Bags,  Plus Specialty Bags, Boxing Ring and Speed Bags. Loaner boxing gloves.

Additional Fitness Equipment

Cardio equipment, large free weight area plus kettlebell and cross fit training area

Pricing

Prices  for team building programs start at just $749 for the full day! Discounts for monthly gym memberships provide for participants on an individual or corporate basis.

Our history

We started as a small local boxing gym in downtown Portland with only a handful of coaches. Portland City Boxing was founded by Jeff Marlow who built, owned and operated 11 full-service Athletic Clubs and 2 Martial Arts Studios With over 30 years of gym, boxing and kickboxing training. He is the previous owner of the Princeton Athletic Club in the Governor Hotel. During personal boxing training sessions, Jeff tailors an exercise plan to each client's goals and designs workouts suitable for them to achieve success. He works with all levels and ages to maintain and improve mobility, strength and cardio conditioning. The most important aspect of the boxing workout is variety and fun!

Portland City Boxing moved to a great new location within downtown Portland. Close to the max line and bridges with a huge indoor facility packed with all the amenities you need for a great workout. As our membership grew, so did our coaching staff. Now, we are a diverse group of motivated trainers with a variety of physical fitness backgrounds obtained through experience and education. Our passion for boxing, kicking boxing, and combat fitness drives the energy to motivate others to get in shape while learning a fight sport.
